Phuket :)

Alvin Lim,Cheehern,Leonard,Nuh,Shaun and Joel
came to stay over at my place on friday night
had a little drinks and took some pics
of LEONARD!

Since my house was at pasir ris,
i asked them to stay over for their own convenience
as we had to head to the airport at 6am the next morning.
only alvin teng didn't stay over.
It was my first time travelling by budget airlines
and with only my friends
actually i didn't get to travel much
ive been to only a few places
Japan(fukuoka),Malaysia,HongKong...and now Thailand(Phuket)
it felt rather surreal to be on the flight with my friends

the flight there took around an hour and a half

Day 1,
we arrived at around 9am at phuket airport
and being unfamiliar to the place
we headed to one of the tour companies named
Phuket Friendship Tour
we were greeted by this rather plump but super adorable salesman
promoting all the travel places we should visit
phi phi island, maya bay, monkey beach etc..
they way he pronounced the words were so cute!
we ended up going with it as we didnt have much clue of the prices anyway
all we knew was that it provided transportation and a day tour to a few islands

There was a minibus taxi waiting for us right outside the airport
and it drove us to the hotel we booked
Bel Aire Resorts

upon arrival,we were told that the rooms that we booked were full
thus they gave us family sized rooms at the same price
at first we thought we made a loss
but in fact it was much larger than what we expected
the beds were comfty and the room was rather big

they didnt have a swimming pool, which we thought they did
all they had was a mini pool like thing
which i think we were the only ones that used it
but for awhile only haha.

mostly for camwhoring purposes :)
the view was nice from up there though

after placing down our bags
off we went to explore the place
crossing the roads were no mean feat
cars kept coming, even at zebra crossings
thus you had to cross at the slightest opportunity
scary eh!

patong beach was lined up with caucasians
in fact, the whole of patong was brimming with them
all here for a vacation.

we then had lunch at a seafood "restaurant"
the lady serving us was so friendly
felt like we've known her for ages
the food there was not bad

i loved the Thai omelette

it was awesome!
leonard was pespiring from the tom yam soup they ordered
haha it was such a hilarious moment

we then split up as some of them went for a thai massage
and some of us went to walk the streets
was amazed by the artworks they had

such skills..things they do for a living
it woud take me a longg time to reach that standard
the streets were filled with '7-eleven' and 'family mart'
thai massage parlours and money exchange counters everywhere

the roadside stalls were selling similiar items
such as sunglasses,slippers,shoes,t-shirts,singlets,pants,bags,earings
and all sorts of different gadgets and soveniours.
thus it depends on which stall owner offered the lowest price
it was practically the calculator game
they type a price,u type a price
it goes on until either party agrees on the price
or you could just walk away

during the night
we ended up going to burger king to have a bite,

yeah of all places right?
we then went to explore bangla street
known for its nightlife
all the clubs and pubs
we went into one of it for a drink
where they had several scantily clad girls up on a platform
dancing alongside a pole each
and some would come over to entertain us
but we didnt stay long,
as nuh, shaun and i weren't into drinking and stuff
we split up from the group and went around

had ice cream at HaƤgen-Dazs
and went back to the hotel
for the night

Day 2,
earlier,we booked a tour package at the airport
Phuket Friendship Tour
a minibus was catered to fetch us to the jetty

the first stop was Khai Nok Island
which was a short 15minutes ride

upon reaching the small island,
smaller boats came to fetch us
as the boat that we were on was too big
and the water was too shallow for it to dock

we had barbequed corn which tasted so yummy
and we were told to use it to feed the fishes as they would eat whatever's left

despite nuh warning me several times not to go near the rocks,
i still ended up getting some cuts from the sharp barnacles on the rocks
as i couldn't see where i was swimming towards,haha.
hmm it was my first time snorkeling
and it was rather interesting experience :)

after which,
the boat headed to monkey island & phi phi island
that was when the nightmare began

that journey to phi phi island
was THE most excruciating ride of my life
the waves were merciless
causing the boat to sway left and right,up and down endlessly
i totally regretted eating the food they had for us on the boat
and i just puked two bags full
luckily nuh was there to help me dispose and get new bags
otherwise id have puked all over.

after an hour and a half,
we arrived at monkey beach
which i didnt bring my camera along
as i was so nauseous that the only thing on my mind
was to get to solid ground
one that doesn't sway so voilently
didnt managed to enjoy it at all :(

the next stop was phi phi island,
by then i was much better already
as id probably puked up everything thats inside me.

we tried the pancake there,
its kinda like roti prata
but with more flavours
and i bought a necklace there
didnt want to go back empty handed after that long excruciating ride
its a pity we didnt had much time to explore
it was such a beautiful place
beneath the jetty, there were tonnes of fishes
and a few sea urchins too!

they swarmed towards whatever food that was thrown in
the moment the bread touched the water
it was a feeding frenzy

the kids were kind enough to throw their bread near my area
so that i could get a clearer picture of the fishes, haha

before we knew it,
it was time to return
the trip back wasn't that bad
as a kind tourist gave me some medication
for me to sleep so that i wouldn't be affected by the motion of the boat
and it worked indeed!
heard that on the way back
some of my friends puked too,
hahaha

after some rest,
we went to have some seafood
ordered loads of random dishes

which was alright for me,
wasn't as amazing as i expected
the streets at night reminded me of the "pasat malam" we have in singapore
but with much more variety and bustle

we took some pics by the beach, had some drinks
and the second day ended with a good night's rest

Day 3,
our last and final day at phuket
we went to look for things to buy
shopping for things that we fancied

had some yoghurt ice cream
nice:D

oh and joel was like totally in love with the cashier
haha but shes pretty i must say

dont you think she kinda resembles jeanette aw?
we then had lunch at a thai restaurant

where most of them ordered 'pad thai' fried noodles

and i had fried rice :)

after we left for the hotel
all i bought was a cap,a sweater and a shirt
didn't really saw things that i fancied
haha, well most of us didn't buy much.
However,
Shaun finally managed to find the pancakes that
they were selling in phi phi island.
he was in love with them.
hahaha

a minibus awaits us back at the hotel
where we packed up our stuff
and hopped on the ride
back to phuket airport

and soon we were back home,
Singapore

all in all,
i felt that we could've went to try more good food there
instead of going to burger king during on the nights..
but it was an interesting experience
and i enjoyed myself there :)
bye bye phuket

there are people that i can't wait to get away from.
there are people who hates me
there are people who loves me
there are people who i just wanna give a great big hug before i say goodbye.
there are people who id love to delete off my facebook page.
there are people who i wanna keep in touch with.
there are people i wished ive never met.
there are people who i wanna say "F**K YOU!" to
there are people who are just there for the sake of being there.
there are people whom id like to know better.
there are people who i don't even know why they exist
there are people who i would definitely not forget.
there are people that id probably just forget about.
there are people that id love to kick them in the face.
there are people who id like to apologise to
there are people who are just such hypocrites
there are people who are obsessed with power
there are people who are overflowing with ego
there are people who needs education badly
there are people who are just too lazy
there are people who are insanely hardworking
there are peope who i admire
there are people who i love having around
there are people whom im lucky to be with
there are people who borrows my stuff like free
there are people who are just idiots.
there are people who thinks im an idiot
there are people who i dont even know
there are peope who thinks they're smart
there are people who are extremly useless
there are people who are extremely immature
there are people who doesn't appreciate the things i did
there are people who should be shot dead and fed to the sharks
there are people who i think are just gonna fail in life.
there are people who i know id meet in the future
there are people who made my life interesting
there are people who filled my days with laughter
there are people who will never change
there are people who i wont even bother writing about
there are people who still owes me money
there are people who im eternally grateful for
there are people who totally changed my life

there are people, all sorts of them
in this 2 years of NS,
which is nearing to an end.
but nevertheless,
without these people,
i wouldn't be who i am today.

Mrs Lee Kuan Yew,Mother of Singapore

• Mrs Lee Kuan Yew (1920 - 2010)

SINGAPORE: Madam Kwa Geok Choo, the wife of Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew and mother of Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, has died.

Mrs Lee Kuan Yew, aged 89, passed away peacefully at home at 5.40 pm on Saturday.

A statement from the Prime Minister's Office said the wake will be held at Sri Temasek, official residence of the Prime Minister located within the Istana grounds, from October 4-5.

Visitors who wish to pay their last respects may do so from 10am to 5pm. Members of the public may call 6835 6614 for any queries.

A private funeral will take place on October 6 at Mandai Crematorium.

The family requests that no obituaries and no wreaths or flowers to be sent.

All donations will go to the National Neuroscience Institute (NNI) Health Research Endowment Fund.

Madam Kwa was one of 8 children.

An outstanding student at Methodist Girls' School, she also topped the 1936 Senior Cambridge Examination for the whole of Malaya and Singapore.

At Raffles Institution, she caught the attention of a young Lee Kuan Yew when she gave him unexpectedly stiff competition for a Queen's Scholarship.

But academic rivalry aside, he knew he had found his equal, and his soul mate.

Their relationship grew through the years of Japanese Occupation, and by September 1944, love had blossomed.

When World War II ended, Mr Lee left to study law in England in 1946. But he was miserable until she joined him at Cambridge University a year later.

The two married secretly on 23 December 1947.

She had just turned 27, and he was 24.

Mrs Lee said: "You can't explain these things ... He had tremendous aplomb, self-confidence, very jaunty, he was a handsome young man."

When they returned to Singapore in 1950, they tied the knot again, this time with their parents' full knowledge.

When Mr Lee got more involved in politics and became Singapore's Prime Minister in 1959, it was Mrs Lee and his younger brother, Lee Kim Yew, who built up and expanded Lee & Lee - the law firm all three had set up in 1955.

Mr Lee once said his great advantage was that he had a wife who could be a sole breadwinner and bring the children up.

That was his, quote, "insurance policy," which allowed him to play the role he did in Singapore's history.

In October 2003 - Mrs Lee suffered a stroke while on a visit to London.

Fortunately, she made a swift recovery and was again seen in public at her husband's side at community events, and on official trips overseas.

And she was there when Lee Hsien Loong was sworn in as Singapore's third Prime Minister.

Although she had shied away from a high profile, her contributions to Singapore had been most significant, and pivotal to its history.

"If she weren't an influence, supposing I had married somebody else, I might have become a different person, not that I would be a different person, but the things that I would have been able to do, the kind of backdrop I would have had, family, support, would have been different,"
said MM Lee. - CNA /ls

who made you king of anything?

being in NS
I start to realise how ugly people can be
and not talking about their appearances
but whats beneath that mask

its everywhere all these while
its just that we didn't really feel the full impact of it
when we were still studying
but when it comes to being coerced to live and see the same people everyday
that is where the real test begins

as my ORD date nears
i find myself being rather happy
at the thought of
never seeing those individuals
who think that they are kings
and we are their slaves.
yeah sure, kings of their own shithole.

i despise them
as they deserve absolutely no respect at all.
sure we do have loads of commanders, officers and all
but how many are really leaders?

Why is it that nobody does anything despite knowing something is amiss.
Why do they continue to let incompetent people to rise through the ranks.
Why doesn't anyone stand up for justice no more?
oh wait,how could i forget,this is reality.

welcome to uniqloooooooo~

okay.
i bought a pair of black denim jeans from Uniqlo,tampines1
and sent it for alteration after paying for it..
i was SUPPOSED to collect it about after a few days or so.
the thing is...

IT COMPLETELY SLIPPED MY MIND!
and only after chatting on the phone last night
i suddenly recalled about it!

but its at least 6 MONTHS since i bought it!!
plus i think id probably lost the receipt.
FAIL!!

haha just sent an email to them
hopefully they do something about it
hahaha I FEEL SO RETARDED.

in the meantime,
check out this song ive just heard today on the radio
lush 99.5FM

Love, save the empty by Erin Mccarley

update:
ah..went down personally
its no longer there
oh wells,
lesson learnt.

sour sour feeling

bahh dunno whats gotten into me
haha i get this very sour feeling
whenever i see someone thats so good looking.
like in facebook or what
not those superstars or models
but people in your everyday life
friend's friend
or someone related to you somehow or another
it just gets to me
haha

i always compare myself to them
and think:
"why are they so good looking?"
"they are sooo lucky to have so many friends asking them out all the time"
"aww how i wish i could look JUST like him"

things that keep occuring to me
haha i guess i just feel damn insecure about my looks
why i don't have cool friends like they do
why im not attractive enough
WHYYYY

I guess its all about the confidence
the way they present themselves
but thats easy for them,
with their looks and all
how not to be confident!

haha
i even considered plastic surgery!
but i've kinda scrapped that idea
considering ive not much money and stuff
and i know how they'd say
looks arent important
and that our looks will all fade away
and inner beauty is what counts
but still...

wouldnt it be nice to look like him?

aniw, just some personal thoughts im sharing
pleaseee don't shoot me with mean comments.
im quite vulnerable to those

haha entertaining :)

We can't control what happens in life, but what we can control is whether to face them with a smile or a frown.

ahh~
today was a great day!
even though i was called back to camp
as there was a last minute detail,
i wasn't affected by it at all

i dunno why,
but i just felt happy today
and everything went smoothly.

take for example,
i realised i didn't have a cashcard with me
and upon reachig my unit,
i saw my fellow pioneer,kelvin
and asked if he had any cashcard with him
luckily he had one that he was just going to return!

When my handphone was running low on battery,
my friend with the same handphone model as mine
had left his charger in camp :D
thankfully!

When i wanted to get some paperwork done,
i couldn't find the Duty Officer to get them signed,
but just so happen that our Ops warrant came back from lunch
and he signed them
hes such a nice guy!

Thats not all,
when i went for the detail,
the place that i had to drive to
was really really ulu~
and yet i didn't lose my way!
haha thats an amazing feat! :p

best of all,
it ended real fast and soon i was on my way back to camp!
and when i got ready to book out
the dark gloomy sky cleared
and it was sunny again!

ahh~
what a nice day
i guess staying positive does help alot!
it felt like i had a guardian angel by my side :)

haha oh btw
guess what
i found the camera phone
which i misplaced
haha i always use it to camwhore
HURRAY!

We can't control what happens in life, but what we can control is whether to face them with a smile or a frown.

i choose to smile

Family Dinner @ East Coast Park

Our relatives came to Singapore as one of their honeymoon destination!
and they stayed at our place :D
its been a longggggg time since ive seen my cousin,
well i dont even have a single relative living in Singapore
they are all in different parts of the world
holland,europe,hong kong etc...

she mentioned how ive grown since the last time we met
and how i liked to pluck flowers when i was young
haha that was decades ago!!

aniw,we went to East Coast Park to have dinner together
we ordered Chilli Crab,Prawns,Cockles,Fried tofu,'Kankong',raw fish
it was such a spread!

my mom was greedily eating the coconut flesh
and the thick reddish roe of the crab,
despite my sis telling her its high in cholesterol
haha she was like "oh it is unhealthy?",
while her mouth was busy finishing it up!
so cute :D

jie,kor,ma,pa,cousin's hubby,my cousin :D

and myself

it was nice to have family dinner together like this
we rarely have the chance to sit down together and eat
and im sure my mom is the happiest
she was like commenting when she got off the car
"isnt it amazing?
such a petite woman like myself could give birth to such tall and big children!"

:D

things to do.HAVE TO DO!!

man!
was looking through artworks and photography at deviantart.com today
arghhh they are all so good at digital drawing!
im amazed :)
got to buck up myself
loads of catching up to do
and NS kinda caused me to be stagnant
need to get into the environment
the Arts!

ive got myself a tablet a few months ago
and havent touched it ever since.
Im CLUELESS as to how to even start
or maybe im just not motivated
find that ive been very lethargic lately
have things to do but kept procastinating them
you know how artists have times whereby
they've absolutely no inspiration or mood to even lift the pencil?
yeah thats exactly how i felt!

ahh...
im like reading this guide book about my camera,Nikon D90
have to brush up my technical skills in photography
the thing is,i'm interested in portraits
but i just don't want to attend courses and such
as i feel the technical part of photography would just kill my passion for it
just like how i refused to take art lessons when i was young
the way they would input whats the 'correct' way to drawing
it might have just hindered the upcoming of a great artist
or someone who is capable of much much more!
as einstein once said,
"The only thing that interferes with my learning is my education."

its rather frustrating with things going on in camp
last minute notices and with people refusing to cooperate
being extremely selfish and not considering the plight of others
they're everywhere in life
I've got to learn to accept this fact

here are a few things ive yet do to
#1 confirm the dates with the two models for photoshoot
#2 sketches for the photoshoot
#3 experimentation on the props im gonna use
#4 get a life

I know this blogpost is really disorganised
just wanted to pen down all my thoughts before i head off to bed
haha

cya!
cheers
